Explore the Microscopic World With Whitman Scientist on CNN International

Learn about the miraculous world of cellular life this weekend with  Whitman Center Scientist Clare Waterman of the . Waterman will be featured on CNN International’s program “.”

The episode will air on CNN International on Friday, Dec. 15 at 4 a.m. ET, Saturday, Dec. 16 at 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET and Sunday, Dec. 17 at 6 a.m. ET. There will be an encore presentation on Tuesday, Dec. 26 at 11 a.m. ET.

According to the press release, “’Unseen Earth’ features three guests who reveal the incredible places and things that are only visible under the most powerful microscopes, the largest satellites, and buried deep beneath our feet.”

Waterman studies how cells move, which has applications that range from wound healing to the spread of cancers. She is an alumna (1993) and former co-director of the  Physiology course. She cites her experience taking the course as the start of her interest in the microscopic world. She is also a judge for the , which is judged and exhibited annually at .

Waterman will be sharing the one hour program with cave explorer Robbie Shone and astronaut Leroy Chiao.
